One positive, aside from the single point the Hatters picked up against Sheffield United, was to see one of our summer signings make his Championship debut for Luton.
Reece Burke, signed from Hull City, slotted into the back four and had an assured first game, in the Championship, for the Hatters.
A product of the West Ham United youth academy and still only 24-years-of-age, Burke, in my opinion, has the potential to be a mainstay of the Luton defence for many a year to come.
Reflecting on what was a successful debut, it appears, on social media, that the support agrees with my view:
solid debut

This lad Burke looks a very tidy centre half wins in the air and battled on the deck. Great performance

Indeed, delving a little deeper, Reece was among the candidates for the man-of-the-match award rivalling Naismith for the honour.
Burke was quality…Naismith grew into it.

However, with a few other centre-backs on the playing staff, at Kenilworth Road, who would be our ideal pairing?

Hi all, thought reece looked pretty good considering he was another who has been injured…looks comfortable on the deck too…him and Bradley could form quite a partnership once they are both fit….there could also be a premiership loan midfielder on the horizon…don’t know if Chris has any news similar….
I’ve got my ears glued to the ground 🙂
Yes Alan, I think I said it Fri to mh, when you also like me had heard about 2 possible signings
