Another three points, this time against Bristol City, last night, has certainly enhanced the Hatters chances of making the play-offs.

After the play-off disappointment of last season, against Huddersfield Town, the supporters are hoping, under the managerial acumen of Rob Edwards, we might do better and reach the Wembley final.

Now, I’ve always said don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched, but there is something about Luton, this season, that just screams success.

In fact, with all these recent 1-0 wins, I cannot get the old chant that used to come from the North Bank out of my mind:

“One nil to the Arsenal!”

it had a wonderful resonance to it.

Ahead of the fixture against Bristol City, in the pre-match build up, I did say I’d happily accept a 1-0 win but thought it would finish 2-0.

Following the game, and as reported by the BBC, Rob Edwards remarks summed the game up perfectly, with the boss remarking:

“I thought the performance in the first half was excellent.

“We were on the front foot, we were a real threat, created big chances, and everything that we want to be, we were.

“They remained a threat on the counter-attack and we had to manage that but I thought the first half was pretty much one-way traffic.”

Indeed it was and I couldn’t help but think, as I downed my half-time refreshments, that we may come to rue all those missed chances.

Continuing, Rob added:

“As we all know, two halves of football are never exactly the same and then when we didn’t get that second goal, they can gain a little bit of confidence and belief from that, and then we all know we’ve got to make sure that we see the game out.

“We still had a couple of big chances in the second half, great save from Carlton’s header and we got into some good areas, but as a team we defend really, really well, and we had to show that at the end of the game.”

Yes we did as Ethan Horvath, aided by his defence, kept clean sheet number 16 of the season.

Onwards and upwards as a chance of glory beckons.
