Luton Boss Airs His Frustrations

With the Holy Grail tantalisingly close, it must be hugely frustrating being Luton’s manager now.

Sat on the bench, trying to cope with an injury list that appears to be growing every day, Nathan Jones must be wrestling with the problem of dropping points at the wrong time of the season.

Two points out of the last nine available, have not finished off the Hatters hopes of promotion, but just imagine if we’d taken three more of those points available, we’d be flying.

Last night, away to Huddersfield, the Hatters were culpable of conceding two goals that cold, at best, be described as ‘sloppy’.

Both could be put down to concentration lapses and were, to be blunt, avoidable.

It’s no wonder that, in his interview with BBC Sport, there was a hint of disappointment in the tone of Nathan’s voice with the gaffer remarking:

“It hinged on us not defending two situations because they didn’t have to work hard. We were excellent I thought in terms of defensive shape.

“We were bold, we were brave and we moved the ball. In the second half I thought we stepped on the front foot. They took a throw-in off the back of someone and the ball has looped in and gone in.

“Late on, Naby Sarr comes on and no one picks him out. Two naive bits of defending has cost us. That’s been further compounded by a penalty miss when we were really in the ascendancy. That changed the game but that’s the nature of what Championship football is.”

Indeed, it is, we’ll play worse and win, but the pressure is starting to increase, Nottingham Forest are next, on Good Friday, let’s rip into them and put this promotion charge back on the road.
