Luton – Are You Sitting Comfortably

|

Something strange happened yesterday!

Hanging around waiting for the Hatters to kick-off, in their Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers, I was following the Premier league fixture between Everton and Newcastle United.

Now normally I would not bother to do such a thing but in this pandemic lockdown I have found myself doing some strange things.

Plus, there was also a little bit of intrigue associated with the fixture, courtesy of Graeme Jones, our former gaffer, being added to Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United coaching staff, something we reported on earlier in the week – ex-luton-boss-gets-plumb-new-job.

Now, ahead of the game, Newcastle United had lost four Premier League fixtures on the bounce while Everton were riding high in the Premier League table.

Therefore, on paper, it looked a sure-fire home win.

But it did not turn out that way with Newcastle United, in their first game since Graeme Jones joined the club, emerging 2-0 victors!

Was Jones the difference or was it just coincidence?

Your thoughts please.

Luton v Huddersfield?

Luton Town to Win!

A Draw!

Good luck to him, will only ever be a coach. Perhaps he likes birds…… from a seagull to a Magpie?

GJ’s results before Christmas 2019 were appalling. But his last nine results, before leaving were pretty similar to NJ’s first nine on his return. Were things beginning to turn round anyway? We’ll never know. NJ had the good fortune for Blackburn to gift us two own goals and no crowd to greet/jeer/boo him on his return. Without those two things would we be in Division 1? We’ll never know. Just pleased we are still in the Championship and not looking too anxiously over our shoulders but consolidating our place.

Oh, and one more thing; since I saw Denis Law score those six goals against us in the Cup you’ll understand I orefer white shirts and black shorts, but, as long as our main strip is orange, could we keep as orange and please reverse the creeping trend towards red?
