Speculation has been mounting for several days that the Hatters were set to add another striker to the squad.
This morning, hard on the heels of completing the signing of Amari’i Bell, it would appear that Luton have indeed added another striker to their squad.
News emerging from Morecambe FC Suggests that the Hatters have won the race to sign Carlos Mendes Gomes, a player who has featured in the transfer gossip on Vital Luton before – luton-quoted-500000-fee-for-wanted-striker – as our article stated, it is believed that Morecambe were after a cool £500,000 for the player, a figure that caused us some concern.
However, our quoted source is implying that the fee is, as is often the case, undisclosed.
But does this latest signing get your approval?
Myself, I am not sure he fits the bill, but I am open to persuasion.
Feel free to have your say on our latest signing in the comment facility beneath this article.

Luton – The Amari’i Bell Signing – The Acid Test
We wanted a striker, he has some good teachers in big mick and Jerome, so time will tell…7 players in, many said the squad needed fleshening up, so nobody can complain….Still think there maybe 1 more incoming….
He Young can be developed Jones sees a player that has massive talent I’m sure he got this right he does not often get his recruitment wrong
I think NJ has to take a chance on gomes as we don’t have the big money to spend like other clubs . £500,000 is a lot of money but if he can’t learn from the staff and players we have here he won’t learn anywhere. Not too sure if we needed bell but let’s wait to find out hopefully we don’t have move some of the young players on .
Looking forward to the Wales game noe and will our Welsh pointer be selected if he is I will be watching closely.
Everything POINTS to him being selected 🙂
An what’s the point mh, it can’t be there isn’t another midfielder in. The squad an better I reckon on 22 pts
I just think he’s a dead cert to be selected, he has been chosen for all the previous games, still amazed the shortest player on the pitch headed two goal bound efforts of the line in one match 🙂 I reckon our midfield trio next season will be Naismith, Lansbury and Campbell with NJ adopting a wing back system with three at the back, but more of that tomorrow.
Best signing of the summer by a long chalk for me. Addresses the main flaws we had last season – much more mobile than Collo, has 2 feet and a great eye for setting up a goal. Him, Adebayo, Onyedinma and Cornick could frighten the crap out of most back lines. And if NJ keeps Pelly, gives Morrell a run and manages to get the best from Campbell we are going to be a better side than we were. My main concerns now are too many central midfielders as usual and now too many left backs. But if Jones finds his first 11 quickly and releases the shackles without losing too much defensive solidity we could have a much more fun season and still be comfortable come April.
Jim, face it Morrell has burned his bridges with luton an will be out!!!
NJ burnt his bridges much worse and look where he is now. Neither NJ, Sweet nor the fans should be hypocrites.
Joe is more than entitled to be wound up that he is good enough for the knock out stages of the euros but not to get any craic at Luton. I’d be much more disappointed if he wasn’t angry. We have had freeloaders in the past. He doesn’t want to be one, great.
If goes he goes he goes. But it should be because you can’t play 8 centre mids. Not cos he’s rightly pissed at setting up and stopping goals at the euros but deemed too weak for us despite never having a poor game the odd time he started.
The problem with Morrell is he is aways fit for Wales but played the injury card for us and never trained 100%….I would love it if he buckled down and settled with us and prove many of us wrong, but he had said he wants away so let’s see how much interest is shown from other clubs…..
Sorry Jim, but yet again he’s proving a liability to Wales. Not good enough. Disruptive in training got to go a waste of space. An I stand by that he may play for Wales that means nothing he’s shite.
I reckon Campbell could be the best signing of the summer, but it’ll be interesting to see how they all bed in
That front line sounds great if it comes off ,hope NJ does go for the wing backs and puts nailsmith in front of the back line and I can see a good team once they all bed in . It’s about time for another promotion party haven’t had one for a couple of years 🥳🥳. Coyh
Boy oh boy the pointer playing looking forward to this. 😂😂
Denmark to win 2-1
Half time Morrell report clearance in on box 1 points 12 foulls in opposition box 1 almost own goals 1 failure to make any effort to catch player who set goal up 1. We couldn’t give him to Dagenham or Yeovil they would ‘nt have him either not good enough. He’s still a pile of s**t. The sooner he’s out of the club the better. He’s not fot to wear our shirt.
lol I did lose count of how many times he pointed plus it was a bit cheeky when he asked Bale to give him the ball, i bet Bale thought no feckin chance!
Mh you may have noticed nobody wants to pass to him!!! I wonder why!!! Fine if people want to stand by him. They are entitled to that but for me get him out of our club we don’t need or want him.
Surprise surprise the pile of shite subbed watch how Wales improve.
People are entitled to there opinions but are they watching the same game we are!!!!
Thank god for that, a last the media can stop bleating about poor little wales……I hope…
Hi Alan, be fair they played with 10 or 9 players in all 4 games as Morrell was invisible an a nonentity. At least they were better when he wasn’t on the pitch!!
Anyone who thinks that Morrell is worth a place in a luton shirt please make it known I’m interested to see if anyone thinks he is supported or not beside Jim an paul
We’ve had so many wonderful Welsh players in the past but he’s not 1
Hm, let’s have a poll who thinks Morrell should stay or be bombed out of our club. An settle once an for all. Whether he is worth keeping.
leave it to me Chris, I’ll sort something out in the morning
morrell has got as much chance of playing for luton,as matt hancock becoming prime minister. but stranger things have happened.COYH AND ITALY.
Love it jimbo
