Last week, while surfing the net, I could not help but stumble on the topic of this article.
Lurking on the pages of the official Luton Town site was an advert asking for people to step forward and become a Match Day Steward.
The article – Join our winning team as a Safety Steward – I thought would be right up my street.
After all, once I had undergone all the compulsory training, I would be able to watch the Hatters and be paid for doing just that.
But then I began to give it some serious thought and it dawned on me it was far from being the ideal part-time job for me, for the following reasons:
1 – I guess watching the hatters is not the real guise of the job, I believe you are meant to focus on the crowd.
2 – Knowing my luck I would be far away from the action and stewarding the car park.
3 – Perhaps, having reached 60-years-of-age, I am not the ideal human specimen to chase offenders across the pitch and apprehend them, even more so with the dodgy set of knees I now have
and
4 – Could I keep my act together and act in an orderly way when it comes to keeping law and order with the away fans kicking off?
But the dream was good while it lasted and I would urge anyone who would like to give the role a go to do it, is there anything better than working (apart from playing) for the club you love?

Luton Support Want This Midfielder To Stay
hi MH, i’ve got a couple of mates who steward at Arsenal and the worst job going is doing the segregation line between the home & away fans as they share that end. The stuff they have to put up whilst fans goad each other really isn’t worth the money they get paid though there are some nice cushy numbers behind the scenes if your face fits.

exactly why I couldn’t do it, I’d be chucked out / arrested for getting stuck in!
