Luton – A Point Won Or Two Lost At Preston Is The Big Question

If we look at the statistics, the article title does indeed pose an intriguing question.

After taking the lead at Deepdale, courtesy of a header from Carlton Morris, the Hatters, five minutes into the second half, found themselves playing against 10-men when Ben Whiteman was shown a red-card for a bad foul on Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

Take into consideration the fact that it was Luton that were creating most of the chances and that Preston North End had lost their last FIVE home league games and you’d have put your money on the three points coming home.

But it wasn’t to be, adjudged to have handled in the box, Tom Lockyer could only watch on as Troy Parrott stepped up to comprehensively beat Ethan Horvath from the penalty spot.

Despite creating several more chances, the Hatters could not force a winner and had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Nevertheless, the draw still keeps Luton in 4th place and their chances of reaching remain in their own hands with a tasty fixture against top-of-the-table Burnley to come this Saturday.

But, returning to the title of this article , social media seems to agree on the answer:

And if you wanted any further confirmation that they have reached the correct verdict, look no further than Rob Edwards post-match interview, as reported by the BBC, with the gaffer admitting:

“I’m really pleased with big parts of the performance and we’ve got to look at performances, but ultimately we want results. We want points on the board and I do feel like it was two points dropped tonight.”

Case proven methinks!

Hate to say it but lack of goals this season is mostly down to Adebeyo, he is getting chance after chance and fluffing them.

  • Alan says:

Where would we be without his goals…..all strikers go through a bad spell. …until last nite how many games had Morris gone without scoring….

I’m annoyed with the penalties given away in the two games. Admittedly we should have been out of sight in both games before the penalties were conceded, but easily could have won both games 0-1.

keep firing the ball to them and they will score. what a great player clark is. he is non stop. we need goals from all players, not just strikers. we have a couple of young strikers just waiting for a chance. the future looks good.COYH.

Still come back to my post about dead ball situations.not good enough anymore the only player with the skill left is Lansbury an he rarely plays.clarks deliveries last night were appalling 1good 15 rubbish delivery he can’t do it Lansbury 1from 1 but rarely plays so we have to find another coach like sheets to teach them.

  • Alan says:

What was lansbury doing with the free kick he played to horvath, instead of getting in the box, in the last few minutes
