Luton – A Couple Of Touching Gestures

I’ve never been a fan of penalty shoot-outs, possibly because they are so unpredictable.

Yesterday, as extra time drifted towards the inevitable shoot-out, I was mulling over in my mind whether it would have been better to lose inside the 120 minutes rather than through the heartache of a penalty shoot-out.

But what unfolded blew away any of those negative thoughts, yes it was a nervy affair and yes, I dare not look at times, but when victory was ours, delirium set in.

Tears of joy were running down my cheeks, and to think I’m a lot nearer my pension age than my teenage years.

However, watching the finer details of the penalty shoot-out, deep into the night, I have nothing but admiration for those that stepped forward, especially young Joe Taylor who had the testicular fortitude to step forward and with a touching gesture, kissing the ball before he placed it on the spot.

But, although Ethan Horvath did not manage to save any of the spot kicks, did anyone notice the other major role the American keeper played?

As each of his colleagues took the dreaded walk, he met them with the ball to be used and whispered encouragement in their ears, a splendid touch with all the noise and madness filling the stadium.

i am sure horvath would have saved that goal, if it had’nt deflected off of osho’s leg. what a magnificent example of ball control by elijah, then passing to clark, to score a cracking goal. can’t wait to see who will be playing for us next season. COYH.

Horvath signing? His post match on ESPN sounded very much like he was a Luton boy next year already…

    Hey, Mad Hatter.
After yesterday performance of a DECADE and great words from Rob (Ted Lasso) Edwards how proud everyone should be, got me thinking who will they buy, old experience premier players who are dumped by their club as being on the scrap heap or young South American with flare.

What’s your opinion and the readers thought? Who should we buy ?
Please do an article later on at the appropriate time as a talking topic.
