Keeping the Sharks at Bay?

One of the disadvantages of being the leading lights in the Skrill Premier is that, all of a sudden, your players` become extremely attractive to League Clubs.

In the past we`ve spoken about our fears that our leading scorer, Andre Gray, might be plucked from Kenilworth Road in exchange for a fat-cheque.

Fortunately, it hasn`t happened but that doesn`t stop speculation doing the rounds.

Today the rumours are concentrating on the future of Alex Lacey with it being inferred that he could be bound for a Football League club.

Already our talented centre-back, still just twenty years of age, has been linked with the likes of Bournemouth, Charlton, Millwall and Peterborough.

Matters are further confused by the fact that Alex is out of contract this summer and could leave of his own accord.

But what does Alex make of the situation?

Talking to the local media, Alex is quoted as having remarked about his situation,

“I`m very happy here. I`ve been delighted with the way things have been going and playing 19 games before Christmas I couldn`t be happier.”

“I wouldn`t think about anything else rather than being a Luton player at the minute.”

Currently on the way back from an injury that has seen him side-lined for a while, Alex had this to say about any reputed contract talks having been held,

“Not really, hopefully when I come back from injury I can keep going and work on it.”

No doubt John Still has plans for Alex and we`re sure that there will be a contract offer in the pipe-line but until the youngster puts pen=to=paper, these will remain worrying times with regards to losing him.
