I Believe Luton’s Fate Is Now Sealed But What Are Your Thoughts?

When the post-mortem is held on the 2019 / 2020 season, I can’t help thinking that we’ll reflect on two reasons why the Hatters were relegated.

Now some may say I’ve jumped the gun and that survival is still a possibility and that is a view deep down I also harbour.

But the last two results have convinced me that our fate is sealed, and that relegation is an inevitability.

Returning to those previously mentioned two reasons.

The first is obviously the appointment of Graeme Jones, clearly a square peg in a round hole who didn’t have what it took to build on the foundations laid by Mick Harford and Nathan Jones.

The second is the results from our last two fixtures, I really believed that after taking 5 points from the previous 9 available, Luton could take maximum points against the likes of Reading and Barnsley.

But it wasn’t to be, Luton could only manage a miserly 1 from 6 and now our fate is effectively sealed.

However, this article isn’t all negative, we can take some positives going forward.

We now have Nathan back at the helm and we now have a chance to reshape the squad, decide who should stay and who should go as we prepare for life in League One, a division we should be looking to climb back out of at the first attempt.

Now, I know I always champion the fact that our fate isn’t over until the Fat Lady sings and I know that when it comes to the maths, survival is still possible, but this morning, after last night, I just don’t see it happening.

Perhaps, come three games time, I’ll revisit this article and think what a twat, but can you now see the Hatters retaining their Championship status?
