I’ve said this before but has the saying ever been more apt?
Tonight really is Luton Town’s most important game of the season so far.
With just 5 games left to play and still rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, the Hatters know that their tenure in the second tier of English football is hanging by a thread.
Barnsley are the visitors to Kenilworth Road, this evening, in a fixture that pits the two bottom teams in the table against each other.
It is a game that the Hatters simply have to win.
Anything other than a win will surely see Luton make a swift return to League One.
But which Luton will it be that turns up?
Will it be the team that started the resumption of the Championship with a three-game unbeaten run, a team that battled admirably in the away fixture against Leeds United?
Or will it be the team that rolled over meekly against Reading last time out?
I’m hoping that the Reading game was a one-off, a freak result and something that won’t happen again, at least for the remainder of this season.
But how do the Hatters support think their side will get on this evening?
In our poll, 66% of those who voted have kept the faith and gone for a Luton win, while 18% think it’ll end all-square while the remaining 16% think that Barnsley will return to South Yorkshire with the three points.
With the game being played behind-closed-doors (again), it’ll be a sterile atmosphere with the Hatters support watching on from a distance.
Here’s hoping that come 20:00 hours tonight we’ve all got smiles on our faces and those hopes of staving off relegation have been buoyed.

Hi mh, I completely agree with you. We just don’t know what to expect from the boys tonight or Barnsley. We hope for a win a draw I feel means we will both be relegated. I’m at a loss as to predict an outcome
