Up at the Keepmoat Stadium, the Hatters slipped to a narrow defeat against Doncaster Rovers.
It was a game, we feel, could have gone either way.
But, as we’ve all come to recognise, a defeat is hard to accept, especially when you’ve been on a four-game unbeaten run, in all competitions.
Lurking on social media, are the thoughts of the Hatters faithful, supporters will to dissect the defeat and the reasons why it didn’t quite work out for Luton Town in South Yorkshire.
Thankfully, the posts we found echo our views that there is nothing seriously wrong with the side, it just wasn’t our day:
Not the end of the world like some are making it out to be we were unlucky to not get anything out of the game, on to Saturday against Bristol! #COYH

Exactly, but others are no so placid:
Wouldn’t say we were unlucky, just not good enough to score a goal.

But in the same breath can't go away from home, concede two goals and expect to come away with much. Timing of the goals was a killer!

Fair points, we had as much of the game as Doncaster Rovers and the stats show we had more chances, a fact Nathan Jones will probably rue.
The Hatters also had fourteen corners compared to the two the home side won, a fact that provided a thread that did amuse me:
I know, but 13 corners we could’ve got a goal from one of them, especially with Bradley and Pearson

Sorry to break it too you but just because you get corners doesn't mean you SHOULD have scored.
— Rhys ???????????????????????????? (@SyhrDRFC) September 8, 2018
Yeah it does, should have won 14-2.

Reminds me of the days of Joe Payne, even more so with Bristol Rovers visiting Kenilworth Road next Saturday and another high scoring game.
But, returning to the defeat, some posts do apply a far more adult logic to the situation:
Let's set something straight for the people having a shit fit because Luton lost today!
We have lost 3 of our 4 AWAY games. The teams we have lost to are 1st, 2nd and 7th have lost only 1 game in the 21 they've played all together.
We have 7 out of 9 points at HOME. #DontPanic

Yup. And also, we're not a big fish in this league, rather the average side in both attendance and turnover. I'd say we have to overachieve to get into the POs.

I'd say you're right, and to be honest, I don't want promotion for Luton this season, could you imagine the next step up in quality week in week out? We'd either have a team not good enough or buy in a load of players we can't afford (again) who don't know how to play together.

Whilst back-to-back promotions would leave the Hatters support ecstatic, the above post does make sense.
But football wouldn’t be football without somebody stepping forward to provide the perfect analysis of why we’re struggling to match the form showed last season:
3 points:
1. We're a bit light up front, made worse by the fact Collins is having a difficult spell.
2. Sheehan needs to come back in for Bradley badly. We miss the leadership & ironically, Bradley isn't great in the air!
3. We've just come up, we'll be fine so no need to worry.— Load FM! (@FmLoad) September 8, 2018
A fair point?
Please feel free to discuss!
