Doherty Approach?

Last night, with very little of interest to watch on the television I took drastic measures.

I tuned into Sky Sports coverage of the trophy we once won – The Johnstones Paint Trophy!

The game featured was between Charlton and Brentford and amongst the players on view was a certain Gary Doherty.

Now we all remember Doherty as a committed Luton player, therefore, watching him, I was intrigued to have read earlier that Luton, recently, were considering bringing the player back to Luton on loan with the Luton boss, Gary Brabin, commenting in the local media,

“There`s a little bit of truth in it. We know Gary`s a Luton boy.”

“There was an injury crisis and we went to see if he fancied it.”

“It never went any deeper than that.”

“He is a Luton fan, a Luton lad and he said one day he would love to play for the club.”

“It never went any further than just a conversation. He was very complimentary.”

“We just said that if anything in the future comes about would he be interested.”

“It was around the time when we were struggling injury-wise and who we could get out on the pitch.”

“We have a good relationship with Charlton, he wasn`t getting a game and it was just a friendly conversation rather than an approach.”

“He is still very much part of Charlton`s plans. It was something minute.”

Shame really, I`d have loved to have seen Gary back in a Luton shirt!
