Immediately after the recent FA Cup draw, I admit my mind was racing.
Lying on the bed, with the wife soundly asleep, my mind was restless.
I could not get the tie out of my mind and as the seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours, I found myself compiling, just like I did for the Queens Park Rangers game – a-they-played-for-both-luton-town-and-queens-park-rangers-starting-xi – a starting XI consisting of players who had, in some capacity, been involved with both clubs.
I have to say that the eleven came together a lot smoother than the one in the referenced article but, admittedly, I did struggle to come up with 4 experienced defenders, as you can see.
So, without much further ado, here is the XI I came up with:
• Goalkeeper – Alec Chamberlain
• Defender – Jay Dasilva
• Defender – Mal Donaghy
• Defender – Paul Elliott
• Defender – Cole Dasilva
• Midfielder – Cameron McGeehan
• Midfielder – Peter Nicholas
• Midfielder – Izzy Brown
• Striker – Roy Wegerle
• Striker – Kerry Dixon
• Striker – Mick Harford
• Substitute – John O’Rourke
Please feel free to discuss and add anyone I may have forgotten in the comment facility beneath this article.
As you can see, there are some decent players in the eleven and the forward line, in their prime, would have troubled any defence.
