Strike A Light Luton Sign Bent

This dropped into my inbox and it did amuse me, I hope it has the same effect on you.

To publish it I have had to re-jig the content, but it never strays too far away from what was sent in by a reader who wishes to, for the time being, remain anonymous.

Take it away!

Being a regular visitor to Vital Luton Town, I have been following the articles relating to the hopeful acquisition of a striker.

Some of the suggestions have brought a smile to my face others, especially that Scotsman, not so.

In an ideal world, something that is far from the norm these days, and perhaps edging into the realms of fantasy football, my ideal striker Luton should recruit would have the following traits:

1 – The sheer bullish power that Malcolm MacDonald possessed.

2 – The aerial ability Mick Harford demonstrated.

3 – The low centre of gravity Paul Walsh had a trait that enabled him to create chances out of nothing and leave defenders trailing in his wake.

4 – The longevity of service that Brian Stein demonstrated coupled with that natural ability to score.

5 – The superb goals-per-game ratio Gordon Turner had, something drummed into me at an incredibly early age by my late father.

6 – The ability to score 10 goals in a game and leave us all aghast just like Joe Payne once did.

Now I know such a striker does not exist and if they did, they would be far, far out of Luton’s price range but it does demonstrate just how many different types of striker there are.

So, you might be asking why the unique headline, do I have insider information that the Hatters are set to entice the 36-year-old but previously retired Darren Bent out of retirement for one last swansong at Kenilworth Road?

Well, no!

I just thought it would be a simple hook line, perfect to attract readers for what is my first attempt at an article in my attempt to develop as an amateur hack willing to offer the odd contribution to this web site.

It does in fact relate to me seeing a bent sign, as you enter our town, on the A505 from Hitchin, where somebody has misjudged their speed and gone across the roundabout as opposed to around it.

Not bad for a first attempt I would say, but what is your opinion, did it make you smile, has anonymous got what it takes?
