Luton Fans Shocked At QPR Performance

Before the kick-off, a Kenilworth Road, last night, I probably was not the only one who thought the result would be a win for Luton.

But it was not to be was it!

For some reason, the side selected contrived to throw away a good start and then produce the kind of lacklustre performance that produces howls of anguish.

Several times, last night, those howls brought a strange reaction from the onlooking wife who could not believe how agitated I was getting as the game ebbed more than flowed for the Hatters.

But it seems I was not the only supporter who was extremely disappointed with the fare served up by Nathan Jones side.

The social media is awash with comments from fans equally as frustrated as to what the Hatters produced with the below tweets perfect illustrations of the points made:

It was bad, but I am not sure it was bad as the tweet below suggests, or was it?

What were your views of the shambles last night?

AFC Bournemouth v Luton Town?

AFC Bournemouth to Win!

AFC Bournemouth to Win!

Luton Town to Win!

Luton Town to Win!

A Draw!

A Draw!

Hi mh, thought I would expand on the comment I made in previous post. For a number of years nj has relied on a number of players he trusts. As he has admitted himself. But there comes a time when players themselves become to comfortable in their role an performance slips. I think now is the time to ship out 4 or 5 of these to allow them to reinvigorate themselves with new challenges. An get in 2 or 3 new players to invigorate our own team hopefully. As I worry we will end up doing a Charlton. I’m not knocking nj as he is doing OK but cannot be blinkered by blind loyalty to some players who I think need a fresh challenge

I wonder just how difficult, in these pandemic times, doing any transfers are, but I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments.

Last night QPR were so poor but Luton were even worse. Given the quality of the next few opponents, could we be looking down the table again?

Would last night’s team have beaten saturday’s starting eleven? I don’t think so. It should have been obvious to nj we were seriously under performing. Why not bring 4 “gamechangers” on after 60 minutes to give them a chance to show what they can do?

Last night so many hopeful balls were pumped upfield, all proving to be hopeless. They were gobbled up by QPR defence. There were so many misplaced passes and so many times basic ball control was lacking. And yet we had chances that were wasted.

Why not change the team round for next few games? Last night’s starting 11 won’t have a prayer playing like that. At least Saturday’s team were keen.

Grant the hatter . And your club are what ??? Nothing special either

Hi chris you are right mate, I rate glen rea but time & time again at this level he gives the ball away or gets caught. Sonny, again, at this level not quite good enough. Pelly I think was better when he was sitting at the base of a diamond in front of back 4…last nite was like a throw back to how we played this time last year….lua lua, loadsa skill, but not a starter for me…tends to run down blind alleys….collo, dont he has been right since he returned from covid….I still dont understand what’s moncs has to do to get a run in the starting 11….but hey ho…as I’ve said previously a new spine needed, if not now, def in the summer…having said all that we could go & win sat and last nite will be forgotten….let’s hope…

Hi Alan, I agree with your very last sentence. I hope. We all know that we don’t have any money to toss around but something has to change whether it’s njs mindset or getting players out or a rethink of tactics but let’s do something I would rather see anything than some of performance’s this season. Even putting younger players in who are fighting for there careers. Couldn’t do worse at times

“Lucky to get nil” would be a fitting sentiment to last nights p*ss poor showing. The only saving grace being the oppositions lack of ability to take advantage and make the scoreline really embarrassing. We’ve a few easy games coming up to put things right, away to Bournemouth on Saturday followed by away games versus two of west London’s bigger clubs Brentford & Chelsea.

A shocking performance that was cringing to watch.

NJ can see the issues and says all the right things in his interviews after the games but persists picking the same players that are not performing week on week.
Yes, we may get a result against Bournemouth, but you cannot forget about last nights shocking performance, because unless things change it will happen again and again.
He says if we hadn’t dropped silly points in previous games, we should be further up the table and that we are proving we care a championship team.

Last night we looked like a non-league side being lessened by an average championship team, the commentary said that Charlie Austin’s goal showed his class, I think with our defending last night, my 80 year old granny would have headed that in.
It seems that our inconsistency to defend and score with this present squad has now become the norm.
I think that if we had played the same side as we did against Reading, we would have got something out of this game.

    • Mad Hatter says:

Interestingly, that was QPR’s first win in 10 games, that’s how poor a side they are which makes our performance even more abject.

  • Alan says:

Cant agree more with your comments paul….

  • Mark says:

This is the bizarre thing. We seem to be a “Jeckle and Hyde” team. One game very good and the next game too awful to even watch. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency in our games. Is it because he tinkers with players or formations from game to game because of the number of games coming thick and fast? No idea. But for whatever reason we can be so good in one game and then dreadful in the next.

  • Kev says:

I have to agree with all the comments. Yes we won’t have money to change the team. But that does not mean we can’t make changes to the starting 11.
I really don’t understand why he leaves substitutions so late. They had no time to get into the game, let alone change it.
We lacked creativity going forward, but had Moncur on the bench, who is by far our most creative player. He may not be perfect but at least he gets us up the pitch and always looks like he might get something. But keep the faith, still a long way to go this season and I am sure we will not be in the same place as last year.
