Returning to the days when, following a match a visit to the pub usually followed, I would like to share an interesting tale with you.

After a game our favourite haunt used to be a pub tucked away from the town centre, The Wheelwright Arms.

Anyone who has frequented this establishment will know that it is one of the smallest bars in Luton but it does attract a few punters.

Nestling in one corner of the bar with three acquaintances, we soon became aware that one Kingsley Black was drinking at the bar.

By this time in his career, Kingsley had left Luton and was on the books of a Nottingham Forest managed by the legend that was Brian Clough.

Monitoring his every move, Kingsley glided past us to visit the toilets.

Seeking to get a quick chat, two of us joined him and just as we were about to engage in small talk, somebody else entered the gents and impersonating the legend that was Brian Clough coolly remarked in his best Clough voice:

“Now then young man what do you think you are doing drinking alcohol in this establishment?”

To say Kingsley almost jumped out of his skin was an understatement!
