Luton – Watson Is The Future Claim

One player who has benefited enormously from the recent arrival of Rob Edwards is Louie Watson.

Kept on the side lines by Nathan Jones, the young midfielder has come to the fore in our last two games, making his debut in the EFL Championship fixture against Huddersfield and keeping his place in the starting XI against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.

Given the chance, Watson has proceeded to show that he has the talent to succeed and, in a previous article we published – youngster-impresses-the-hatters-support-on-his-efl-debut – the Hatters support raved about the youngster.

Following the draw against Wigan Athletic, in the FA Cup, I noticed the following post on social media:

Now, for the moment, I’ll keep my view to myself, but does the poster of the comment have a valid point?

Has Watson shown enough in his first two appearances to replace Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu in the starting XI or has, since the arrival of Rob Edwards, Pelly upped his game?

Please feel free to have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.

I’m very interested to see how the poll, on this one, progresses.

Personally I agree with jimbo that we have a plethora of young players I mmerging nj was to cautious to allow their growth. Pettit Watson braney Jones to name a few. Rob seems like he is a little bit more adventurous an we may see more young players given a chance soon.

Watson takes a lot of risks on the ball and draws in a number of players to challenge him but never seems to give up possession, has really broken up opponents central midfield when he starts.
Pelly runs likes a workhorse and puts in a lot of key challenges all over the pitch but gives up possession far too easy and often.
Would a Watson, Campbell and Pelly midfield setup work for our press and high tempo?
Or do we need that Berry/Clark/Freeman creative role to open up opponents?
    In Rob we trust…
