Avoiding relegation may be the primary objective this season but everybody loves a good FA Cup run.

Yesterday, at Goodison Park, the Hatters cemented their place in the 5th round draw with a battling performance that gave them a last-gasp win that had the support in raptures.

For the second time this season, Luton Town had gone to Goodison Park and, to the critics surprise, pulled off a shock win.

It’s no wonder that Rob Edwards, once the final whistle sounded, moments after Cauley Woodrow netted, bounded across the pitch to salute the victory with the circa 3000 travelling fans.

After the game, and as reported by the BBC, Rob assessed the performance by remarking:

“We believe we can go anywhere and win. We were confident coming in to the game. We were a little bit sloppy at times, but there is total belief there.”

There is, this group has a unique bond and have gelled wonderfully as the season has gained momentum.

Continuing, Rob speaking about our set-piece quality added:

“The lads really value them and we do really work on them. Twice we have scored from set-pieces here and won the game. We created more chances from open play and probably should’ve scored others.”

We should have and if there is one nagging problem with our play it remains the fact that poor finishing can, sometimes, blight our game.

And as for Cauley Woodrow scoring the winner, Rob further added:

“I’m really pleased for Cauley. He hasn’t been able to get too much game time and get a rhythm. He is a real gem of a lad and he will be a happy man tonight, although he will be in a bit of pain.”

It appears that Woodrow may have broken his hand in an innocuous challenge five minutes before he scored, but I’m sure the jubilation of scoring that late winner somewhat dulled the pain.

And as for reaching the 5th round when, in our recent history, we’ve struggled to go on a domestic cup run, Rob finished with:

“I didn’t enjoy many cup runs as a player. We will enjoy this, it does mean a lot and it is important that we enjoy these moments. Hopefully it can give us a feel-good factor going into next week.

“I’m excited to see who we get in fifth round. We have been picking up results and we want that to continue. We are really pleased.”

Has anyone got any preferences for our opponents in the next round?
