Every defeat hurts, especially when it comes to only experiencing one victory in our ten games in the Premier League so far.

But, when promotion was obtained we all new we were faced with a difficult season, a season where merely finishing in seventeenth position would be deemed an almighty success.

Sadly, with just the one win in ten, survival seems to be a tougher task than we might have expected, I can recall Mick Harford saying that survival could be achieved with 10 wins and 7 seven draws, but, at the moment, another 9 wins seems to be a hard task, where are they going to come from is the big question?

It must be hard for Rob Edwards to keep smiling in the face of such adversity and I seriously hope that any talk of a change at the managerial helm, by the media, is instantly quashed.

Following the 3-1 defeat at Villa Park, Rob was, once again, spot on with his analysis of the game, remarking, as reported by the BBC

“Villa are an outstanding team who are in a great moment, very confident and very clear in what they want to do. They made it very tough for us but it was good learning, I would say, for us.

“We will come up against teams like this, who are in good form, and there were times when we did things well. There are bits of us to learn and improve on. This game was never going to define our season but we have to make sure it makes us better.”

Exactly, Aston Villa have improved tremendously since Unai Emery took over and should be congratulated on such a feat. They have shown how a struggling club, with patience, can enjoy a significant improvement.

But continuing, Rob further remarked:

“The goals were all avoidable, they were all disappointing.”

Yes they were and I’d hope that as the season progresses, any individual or team errors can be reduced, they’ll never be completely eliminated, that’s the nature of the game.

Putting his views across, the gaffer further remarked:

“We are missing some players, which made us go down to the bare bones in the back unit, but I love this group of players. There is a really strong bond with the fans and that is really important this season. We have to stick together. Our strength will be sticking together.”

Injuries are part and parcel of the game but Rob is perfectly right about the support, the strength and the bond everyone has at the club, let’s just ensure none of us forgets that!

Personally to come away from there with a 3 -1 defeat was a result they are the best side so far we’ve faced. They cut us to piece’s often but the players stayed with it for the whole game not letting their heads go down.Better teams than us will suffer there believe me.

i am hoping that clark returning to the team will be the catalyst thats missing at the moment. the team still has’nt properly gelled, and i hope he can encourage better passing, and not hurried bad passes. as chris says, we were cut to pieces by slick, accurate passes, lets try and do it as well. and scoring a goal or two would be nice.COYH.

Many have already suffered worse than us at villa. But we kept going. Injuries are playing havoc a t the mo. A settled back 3/4 would be a massive result at the mo….
