Signed in the summer of 2022, the Hatters future of Matt Macey appears to be up in the air.
Back in January 2023, after failing to make an impression at Kenilworth Road, the former Hibernian goalkeeper went on loan to the League One club, Portsmouth.
While at Fratton Park, Macey had something of a renaissance, impressing the Portsmouth support with a string of decent performances.
It was on the cards that Macey could, very well, sign for Portsmouth on a permanent basis but, according to The News, Luton Town were not ready to let the keeper go cheaply and wanted a six-figure fee for their asset.
Portsmouth, obviously peeved by the proposed transfer fee, opted to look elsewhere.
Today it has been revealed that the south coast side has, according to the BBC, signed the out-of-contract former Burnley goalkeeper, Will Norris, on a free transfer.
With Luton Town already having James Shea and Jack Walton on the books and also looking to replace Ethan Horvath, or sign the USA international on a permanent deal, it looks, to me, as if Macey is surplus to requirements, but where he ends up remains to be seen.
Any suggestions?
