Luton Town Never Do It The Easy Way

Well Sunday afternoon certainly put us through emotional turmoil did it not as Luton Town made a remarkable comeback against Bristol City, at Ashton Gate.

From 2-0 down the Hatters put on a magnificent second half display to win 3-2 and take all the points available.

To me it brought back memories of another marvellous comeback this season when, when back in February, we came from 2-0 down to beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-2, at Kenilworth Road.

But, with Bristol City entering this game on a run of poor form, it still came as a shock to see Luton fall 2-0 behind before half-time, a classic case of inconsistency, something that is becoming one of our traits.

Talking to the local media, and as reported by BBC Sport, Nathan Jones summed up the game perfectly when he remarked:

“We just didn’t do the basics well first half. We’re a side built on doing the basics well.

“The second half we were more us. We were on the front foot, we were aggressive and we went after them. There was only going to be one winner second half.

“On the balance of everything, it was thoroughly deserved, although it did look a game of two halves.”

It is interesting to note that both our comebacks have come against poor sides, we need to eliminate this trait of falling two goals behind because making a comeback against ‘bigger’ sides is a far harder proposition.

But at least we can say it was entertaining if a little annoying for the first forty-five minutes.
