If I’ve gauged the situation correct, the last of those who were out of contract and free to leave, has now put pen-to-paper on a new deal.

As confirmed by the Official Site, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu has, as we always expected him to do so, put pen-to-paper on a new deal that will see him enter an eleventh successive season as a Hatter.

Pelly’s story is something that legends are made of, since joining Luton Town, from West Ham United, the midfielder has made 364 appearances and scored 23 goals.

But I’m guessing there’s not a proper football supporter out there who isn’t aware of Pelly’s remarkable achievement whereby he, once he makes his first appearance in the Premier League, will become the first player to represent the same club in non-league football and also in all the four league’s above.

It’s fair to say that Pelly has had his critics but, since Rob Edwards took over, his game has improved dramatically and if anyone deserves a shot at top-flight footy it is Pelly.

Our congratulations go to all those, behind the scenes, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that those who were out of contract and who the club wanted to keep, have now signed new deals.
