Luton Town Make A Strange Decision According To The Support

Okay, I’m of the opinion that Nathan Jones IS set to leave to take the vacant managerial role, at Southampton.

I have my own strong views on the subject matter, and it might be in my best interests to be mellow for this article.

But the inference, given on the Official Site that Nathan will remain in charge for the trip to Stoke City and talks with Southampton will start on Wednesday, is something I find difficult to swallow, even if the club try to butter us up with the following statement extracted from the statement:

“We would also like to urge all supporters travelling to Stoke to show him and the team your support on what we hope will be yet another memorable away day.”

Really!

I, like many others on social media, are far from comfortable with what is going on ahead of an important game:

Exactly!

If Nathan is off, then he must be extracted from this scenario and Chris Cohen be allowed to take charge.

How, if we go a goal down, or even if we’re not playing well, can Nathan bark out his orders with such uncertainty over his future?

Is Nathan Jones Southampton Bound?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

would you prefer not to know whats happening. why can’t nj just talk and see what the offer is. when i was working thats exactly what i would have done. how many fans have been on nj’s back this season, he can’t win. but thats what managers are for, praise when we win, and shite when we lose. football fans are so fickle? COYH.

OK everyone I can’t believe I’m saying this. Many of you know I lost my support of nj months ago and said so. Over his ideas that said he’s now gained my sympathy why you ask? Well it’s simple we have all directed our anger at him. But have we been misdirected by the board. I am hearing whispers. Why did the board immediately release the news when they did? They could have held off a couple of days but didn’t. This immediately set fans against nj even though it was the board who agreed to let Southampton not nj so why are blaming nj was his agent tapped up too see if he wanted it. I don’t know that answer. But even so the board then let’s it be known that nj will be in charge tonight again causing us to direct our anger at nj. The board by doing so have left nj with no option to stay he’s lost the fans because of the situation caused by the board. He can no longer stay he will be in Southamptons dug out sat. In an earlier post I called nj a hypocrite I unreservedly recant that statement now an apologise. The BOARD MUST NOW PROVIDE ANSWERS TO THE FANS ON WHY THEY ALLOWED THIS SITUATION!!!!!

    • Alan says:

Chris you are bang on. They should kept quiet until after tonight, if they still want him in charge. They have put him in an untenable position. Telling Southampton to wait, but then going public is unprofessional.

      • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, I know I have strong opinions that some take offence to but I believe in justice. An no matter my feelings about nj I will no longer allow him to be pilloried for this situation.

  • Steve Bahrain says:

Trying not to jump in on this whole saga until the chips have fallen and the situation 100% either way.
So far all I know for sure is the club have been approached and agreed compo for talks with NJ.
But he hasn’t said or done anything concrete from everything I’ve seen and heard, it is a real unfair situation on him and if he was going to decline it feels like the option to do so is being pulled away from him by how the club have acted here.
My old boy is a Luton and a Saints supporter his whole life… Interesting to see how he feels about a manager that is both too good to lose and also not good enough to recruit!

  • Baz says:

Sorry but glad the board put him in an untenable position! Bottom line is that unless NJ had made noises about going again, he wouldn’t have been given permission to talk to Southampton as there would have been no permission to give!
Ultimately he has hinted to someone he would like the opportunity and quite frankly he can go. He can’t do this again and be forgiven. He made the mistake of thinking the grass was greener last time, only to find out ltfc is the greenest. We forgave him and supported him like no others would. I fully support 2020 on letting him talk, as who wants unrequited love? Thanks but do long NJ. Could have been a legend like Mick but now you will be in the championship next year with a different team!

  • Colin says:

I have to agree a very odd situation, Cohen should lead the players I still think he will stay the media have made a meal of this. He is going to have talks with Southampton I personally think he knows where loyalty lies let’s just hope I’m right.Unfortunately fans will turn on him I just hope it’s not tonight there us a time and place for this let’s not forget what he has done for the club

    • Mad Hatter says:

Why have talks with Southampton if he’s happy where he is? Something is not right in all of this.

      • Baz says:

        100% agree!

      • Steve says:

MH is right, this is a very odd situation. Having supported the Hatters since 1962 I’ve never known a situation like this. I will be disappointed if NJ goes but there is another way of looking at it. We can make a decision to bring in a manager that can get us playing entertaining football again. Comparing us with other teams in the Championship promotion race we are way behind them technically, unable to make more than two passes to our own players. We really do need a new approach on the training pitch. This could be a good thing for us and NJ

    • Colin says:

The club should be ashamed of the situation that NJ has been put in it totally unacceptable fans need a explanation as to why they have allowed this to happen the last time NJ left fans gave him what for now the ball us in thee other foot Board are to blame they should not of made any comment at all until the time was right would notvtreat a dog like

  • Alan says:

That’s why the club should have had the decency to hold making it public until 2moro. Like I said they told Southampton to wait & then tell the world. Unprofessional & unacceptable. Would love to hear their reasoning behind this, everyone double guessing, but no proof of anything. All they’ve done is cause a barrage of rumours. Stupid….

  • Baz says:

Sorry, is everyone on here mental? All blaming the board for putting NJ in a situation! The simple fact is, if NJ hadn’t wanted to even consider Southampton, this wouldn’t be an issue as there would be no talks.
The board no doubt heard he was interested and had enough. Who talks to other clubs if they are committed?
Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us!! Fully support 2020 and trust them to do the best for ltfc!

  • Alan says:

All they had to do was wait 48 hours. It’s not rocket science

  • Alan says:

20/20 never get it wrong do they…….buckle, brabin & g.jones……..bit of thought for the players wouldn’t have gone a miss….maybe the ugly sign of money has got in their heads…..

  • Chris winter says:

Don’t know about anyone else but some of the names being bandied about in papers an on various sites are scaring the pants off me!!! As our next manager. God knows what sort of team we’d end up with an football we will be playing 😳😳😳

  • Andrew says:

To be honest I don’t know want ro think about this situation reading all that has been said by you on here makes sense, nj must of said something for the board to say what they have said but to come out and say he won’t to able to talk to Southampton till Wednesday is madness what must the players be thinking and why should they listen to him thinking he may not be here by tomorrow. If nj does go I hope we get someone in that likes to play with the ball on the ground hate the way we are playing at the moment feels abit like old twatford . Coyh

    • Steve C says:

Agree with Andrew about current style of play. If NJ wants to go, let him. We must however be grateful for what he’s done for us and show him the respect he deserves. Let’s move on and play a better passing game like we used to. We don’t want to be compared with the old W*****d way! Time for a change.

  • Billy says:

Agree, if he goes the style of football can only get better. Equally if he tries to make Southampton play the Luton way he’ll be back knocking on Sweets door toot suite and don’t think he hasn’t got the brass neck to do it!!
