Luton Town Linked With The Return Of A Hugely Popular Defender

I am not convinced this is going to happen, but you just never know.

Since the last game of the 2019/2020 season, here on Vital Luton Town, we have discussed the possibility of Cameron Carter-Vickers joining the Hatters on a permanent basis.

For many, it seemed to be a move that would not happen with the obstacles of the transfer fee and possibly wages, being too difficult to overcome.

However, today that has not stopped The Daily Mail from implying that the Hatters are still interested in signing the 22-year-old.

The foundation on which these rumours are based is the inference that although Carter-Vickers has a year left on his contract, Jose Mourinho is willing to sell the American international.

Our referenced source infers that as well as the Hatters, Bournemouth and Swansea City are also interested in striking a deal.

If it comes directly down to money, I would suggest that Bournemouth remain the favourites.

This summer they have banked millions from the sale of players, most notably Nathan Ake to Manchester City, while they will also benefit from the parachute payments, they are due from the Premier League.

Any hopes of Luton spending what would be big money on Carter Vickers are also tempered by comments made by Nathan Jones this week where he spoke about the COVID-19 pandemic possibly forcing a second lock down with its inherent financial complications.

Out only hopes of getting Carter-Vickers on board are if the player expresses a desire to return to Kenilworth Road after enjoying his time here so much last season and a deal can be financially structured that would benefit both Luton and Tottenham.

Personally, like I mentioned earlier, I can not see it happening, can you?
