It may be Sunday, a day of supposed rest, but that has not stopped a rumour surfacing suggesting the Hatters are looking at bringing an experienced midfielder to the club.
According to the Daily Mail, Luton Town are among a plethora of clubs, said to include Huddersfield Town and Derby County who are showing interest in acquiring the services of Conor Hourihane.
Hourihane, a 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international, is a free agent after his contract with the Premier League side, Aston Villa, expired.
If the Hatters could sign Hourihane it would be quite a coup.
However, my view is that it will depend on how high a salary Luton Town are prepared to pay to land their man.
Out of the other two clubs mentioned, I doubt whether the midfielder would be prepared to drop into League One when there is the offer of Championship football available.
So, is it a case of Nathan Jones persuasive tongue persuading Conor that Kenilworth Road is a better option than the John Smiths Stadium?
Hourihane would be a decent signing, his experience would be invaluable as we seek to improve on the sixth place we achieved last season and his ability to play that killer place would benefit Adebayo and Woodrow enormously.
I’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and report back as deemed necessary.
