Last night, as expected, a deal was finally completed to bring Teden Mengi to Kenilworth Road.

Mengo, a young centre-back, joined the Hatters from Manchester United after having been at the club since the age-of-six.

His signing will provide strength in depth at the heart of our defence, an area where, in the past, we’ve been susceptible to injuries.

The deal, as reported by the Official Site gives the chance for the 21-year-old to move on to the next stage of his professional career, something he commented about when questioned, and as reported by our source, when joining Luton Town:

“Making Luton my home was a no brainer and taking on that challenge as I’ve never lived outside of Manchester is something I’m looking forward to.

“Even before they got promoted the team were doing well. I like the way they play and with five at the back I feel I could fit in very well. After speaking to the manager, I feel as though I’ve got a good chance of making an impression here.”

Let’s hope this is the case, although it has to be said, competition for places at the heart of our defence is probably as fierce as it has been for a long time.
