I’m under no illusions when it comes to the size of the task facing the Hatters when it comes to retaining their Premier League status.

As we face the last eighteen games of the season, it really is a case of all hands on deck!

Therefore, I’m absolutely gutted to read, as reported by – Luton Today – that Marvelous Nakamba will continued to be side-lined for several months recovering from a knee injury he sustained in a training session.

Nakamba was a key member of the side that defied critics to achieve promotion, from the EFL Championship, last season and when a permanent deal was done, with Aston Villa, to secure his services, it delighted many a Luton Town supporter.

His ability to go about his business, unfazed, protecting the back three or four was unique, I’m not sure his absence can be compensated for.

Our referenced source, carries some comments from the gaffer, Rob Edwards, that perfectly sum up the player, with Rob quoted as having remarked:

“It’s not great, it’s quite a significant one. We still don’t know definitely on the time but it’s months, it is months.

“It was his meniscus, so he had to have an operation on that. It was a real innocuous one in training, he just passed the ball and it’s such a shame. It’s a real hard one, for him first of all as he’s so important to us.

“You don’t want anyone injured, but it’s just I love seeing his smiley face around all the time at the training ground and when he’s in there (treatment room), he’s still smiling but you can just see it’s hurting him that he can’t get out there and train.

“We’ll do everything we can to make sure we support him and get him back as quickly as possible. When that is, right now, I don’t know, but it will be a couple more months I think at least.”

To lose Tom Lockyer for a considerable period was a bad enough blow but to also lose Marvelous is a hammer blow.

Get well soon Marvelous, hopefully we’ll see you back in action before the end of the season.

To be fair mh, longi has slotted into Marv’s place very well his longer passing is excellent.while marv tends to use short passes to Barkley. That’s no criticism of him just how he plays. But with longi fit and playing whilst we all want Marv back I don’t feel we’ve lost out as longi is on loan and probably not here long term so an able deputy.
