Luton Town – Another Possible Injury Worry

When, in May, it comes to our readership selecting their ‘Player of the Season’ I’d imagine the name of Teden Mengi could feature prominently.

Since joining Luton Town, from Manchester United, in the summer, the young central defender has shown his ability and several times, I’ve wondered why the Old Trafford hierarchy dispensed with his services.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to our season, Teden was called up or the England U21 squad, for consideration for selection for the two fixtures against Azerbaijan and Luxembourg.

Unfortunately, Teden has not had the opportunity to take the next step on the international ladder as it was confirmed, yesterday (Friday), he had been forced to withdraw and return to Kenilworth Road with an injury concern.

The details are a little vague with his return being described as a ‘medical assessment’ quite what that means remains to be seen, we can only hope that Teden is not another addition to what is an already lengthy injury list the Hatters medical staff are having to deal with as we approach the crucial part of the 2023/2024 season.

As for that England U21 cap, I’m sure the opportunity to add that particular award to his trophy cabinet will arrive sooner than later.
