This really is a season like no other when it comes to the continuity of the league campaign.
This weekend, we’re all set to twiddle our thumbs as domestic football, once again, grinds to a halt.
Hard-on-the-heels of the cancellation of fixtures as we mourned the death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II, we now find ourselves in the midst of an international break.
A break that allows countries to compete in the European Nations League, as if we don’t have enough international football already.
But, once football resumes again, we’re ploughing towards, what I believe, to be the first World Cup played in the middle of a campaign.
All it will need now is a harsh winter, global warming allowing, in January or February and the season of interruption could well overspill into the next close season break.
I can’t help thinking, can anyone else, in their lifetime, remember such a chaotic season?
