Luton Support Say It Is Time To Play Sam Nombe Away To Sheffield Wednesday

The Hatters head to Hillsborough this weekend for a crucial Championship fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

Luton’s recent form has not been as good as we would have hoped, but perhaps any signs of panicking are misplaced.

After all, our Championship fixtures played so far have seen Luton win 3 and lose 3.

Perhaps the panic button has started to be pushed because in the last two defeats, against Stoke City (h) and Millwall (a), the Hatters have looked off the pace and have not created enough scoring chances.

Yesterday, as we tried to find a reason why we have hit this slump, we highlighted the problems a packed fixture list and an injury-hit squad present – lutons-fixture-congestion-does-not-augur-well-for-the-future.

But we all know how things can change quickly in this game, one win and we will all be beaming smiles again.

Speaking about getting back to winning ways and summarising the season so far, Nathan Jones, as reported by Luton Today, has remarked:

“We want to get back to winning ways.

“We were five or six games in before we had our first defeat and once we get everyone back and once we start to find a bit of rhythm, we’ll be fine.”

Yes, we will.

But after the poor performances against the two aforementioned clubs, the Hatters support would like to see some changes made to the starting XI with some of those signed before the EFL summer transfer window slammed shut playing.

It would be great to see Joe Morrell and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall start.

But with the Hatters only scoring 5 goals in their first 6 games, there is a growing clamour for Nathan to give Sam Nombe a start.

Indeed, in our recent poll, entitled:

Should Nathan Jones Start Sam Nombe Against Sheffield Wednesday?

The response was emphatic with 84% believing Nathan should with just 16% believing Nathan should not.

Nombe has been bought as a player for the future but he might just, in the continued absence of James Collins, provide that little extra spark.

Surely it has got to be worth a try.

Also, speaking about the rest of the season, Nathan as reported by Luton Today, further remarked:

“It’s difficult but if we get 1.5 points per game for the whole season, we’ll be in a decent place.”

With 9 points from 6 games that is exactly what we are currently averaging and if we keep that up, from the 46 games we would accumulate 69 points which, last season, would have seen the Hatters finish in 9th place, now that would be a decent season.
