With Russia waging war on the Ukraine, it seems weird that just a few hundred miles away here in the UK, life goes on pretty much as normal.

I guess nobody is sure what now lies around the corner, we can only pray that we are not standing on the precipice of something far worse, but my thoughts are with the Ukrainian people.

Meanwhile, like I said earlier, life does go on as normal and tomorrow (Saturday) we welcome Wayne Rooney and his beleaguered Derby County side, to Kenilworth Road, for a Championship fixture.

Luton fans will be hoping that their side can register a third win on the bounce against a side fighting relegation.

But I have a lot of empathy with Derby, like we once did, their supporters are watching on as their side fight a draconian points deduction of 21 points.

I have a lot of admiration for the way in which Rooney has gone about his business this season, despite being linked with the Everton job, before Frank Lampard took it, he opted to stay at Derby and fight the fight.

Looking at our poll, relating to the fixture, I’m not sure all those that voted, are aware of the decent run of results Derby have been carving out, as they face their predicament, with 85% predicting a Luton Town win and a mere 6% going for a Derby win, with the remaining 9% believing it will be a case of the spoils being shared.

I reckon it has the potential to be one of the toughest games of the season.

But how does the resident Sky Sports expert, David Prutton, see this one going?

Well, fresh from his successful midweek prediction of the Stoke v Luton fixture, Prutton reckons the Hatters will edge this one 2-1.

I’ll not argue with that one, but it could be the closest 2-1 win Luton will have all season as Derby County fight for their Championship lives.

But how do you see this fixture going?

Please feel free to leave your prediction in the comment facility beneath this article.

Morning mh, like you I see this as a very tough game an anyone thinking that it’s a game in the bag is a fool… I think it will be a low score only 1 goal will decide it. But I would take it if its us. An while I empathise with Rooney an the team. That club robbed teams of there rightful places in the championship an they must be Relegated this season.

    • Mad Hatter says:

I agree Chris but, as was the case with us, it is always the supporters that suffer from the actions of those that run clubs like Derby

  • Chris winter says:

That’s very true. But it can be a positive thing. Look at us now we the supporters took control of the club saved it an at the moment passed it on to supporter owners who at the moment have stabalised us an care about running a club sustainably.

    • Mad Hatter says:

excellent points Chris, lets hope a proud club like Derby can recover from the misdemeanours of the previous owners

derby are no pushover. i hope this is a big win for luton, they will start banging goals in soon. changing the midfield seems to be a good move. i hope they build on this and don’t revert to the old favourites. as alan suggested, will younger players be given a chance now we are safe. i hope so.
