Last week, here at Vital Luton Town, we covered the speculation linking the Hatters with the potential capture of Carlos Mendes Gomes.
Our article – luton-quoted-500000-fee-for-wanted-striker – covered the inference that Morecambe were looking for a transfer fee of £500,000 for the forward.
In days where the pandemic has hit football’s finances, it seemed an extortionate amount of money for the player.
As a result, we asked the simple question:
Carlos Mendes Gomes For £500,000?
Giving just the two options, YES and NO to choose from.
With the vote now over, we can reveal that 59% of the votes cast went for the YES option, indicating that you believe that £500,000 for the player is, under the circumstances, a fair deal.
As for me, I went for the NO option, along with 41% of the votes cast, watching the player, in the League Two play-offs, I was not particularly impressed and feel the money, if available, could be spent elsewhere.
But interestingly, speculation is still surfacing that Luton are interested in the player – Luton Today – is this one of those deals that is a case of no smoke without fire?
