A week or so ago, here at Vital Luton Town, we speculated on the future of a Luton hero, Danny Hylton.

Our article – hatters-hero-heading-for-the-exit-door – inferred that time was almost up for the scoring legend and that, this summer, he would be clearing his locker at Luton Town FC.

Over the last forty-eight hours that speculation has started to gather momentum.

One source, The 72, implied that Hylton could be headed towards South London, to resume his career in lower league football with AFC Wimbledon.

A move to Wimbledon superseded the inference that Hylton was also interesting the likes of Charlton Athletic Ipswich Town and Portsmouth.

However, the situation appears to have changed overnight, with a claim being made on social media:

Implying that Hylton was now headed a mere thirty miles up the M1 to join Northampton Town.

Hylton has been at Kenilworth Road for six seasons but, as Luton have climbed the leagues, it is perhaps fair to say his influence has waned.

Last season the striker made nineteen appearances for the Hatters and netted on four occasions, its always sad to see a terrace hero leave but, this summer, it looks inevitable.

But, if Hylton does, as we suspect, leave this summer, I’m sure, if our paths cross again, he’ll get a raucous reception from the Hatters faithful.
