Although the Luton support were ecstatic that their side took the three points on offer, at Bramall Lane, there will be concerns over the injury picked up by Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu.

The midfielder, who is experiencing something of a renaissance under the stewardship of Rob Edwards, limped off in the first half with a knee injury.

The injury was picked up after, on one of his surging runs, he was crudely tripped by Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle and appearing to jar his knee as he landed.

It was obvious Pelly was in pain as he pulled his shirt over his head as he limped off, hiding his anguish.

After the game, and as reported by Luton Today, Rob Edwards was clearly disappointed that his squad had been hampered with another injury, remarking:

“I’m just a little bit gutted as well because I feel for Pelly.”

Yes, the injury did take some of the gloss of another stoic away performance but when pressed on the severity of the injury, Rob could only add:

“I don’t know, it’s too early to tell, he’s got a brace on and he’s on crutches and we’ll see.

“I don’t want to comment too much as A, I’m not an expert in that department and until someone tells me what the prognosis is, then we won’t speculate.

“He’s going to be down, he’s come through injuries before and it’s the worst nightmare for any footballer, but let’s see fingers crossed first of all and we’ll see what the extent of it is.”

I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Pelly a speedy recovery and that we’re not left to rue his absence as we approach what could very well be a historic ending to the season.

Its a shame that Pelly is injured but it shows how we have strength in depth and Luke Berry played a blinder so we did not really miss Pelly at all – the team all stepped up and made a seamless transition – great to see Landsbury on the bench again – we did not even miss Clarke or Doughty KOYH- brilliant skill by Elijah too

Best wishes to pelly an hope the injury is not as severe as thought.Whilst some on here will be happy to see him out.My view is at least we have plenty of cover in midfield this season an quality to go with it.So his missing will hopefully not be affecting the team as there are plenty of cover.
