Luton – So It’s Goodbye From Simon Sluga

As we first feared, over the weekend, Luton’s most expensive signing, Simon Sluga, has indeed left the club.

Sluga, who joined Luton on 19-July-2019, for a reputed £1.5 million, has signed for the Bulgarian club, Ludogorets as confirmed by the official site

As seems to be the norm, although the transfer is permanent, the fee has not been disclosed, but the big question is whether Luton managed to recoup the majority of that £1.5 million fee.

The 28-year-old, during his time with Luton, made 81 league appearances and 94 appearances in total.

His debut came against Middlesbrough, on 02-August-2019 in a 3-3 draw.

After a difficult start to his Luton career, during which he made several errors, Sluga settled down to become a fans favourite.

But recently, he lost his first team place to James Shea, although the devil in me wonders whether the club knew he was leaving in the January transfer window and didn’t want to jeopardise any potential move.

Here at Vital Luton Town, we’d like to wish Simon all the best at his new club and thank him for the service he gave to our cause.
