Manager Kevin Blackwell has confirmed that skipper Chris Coyne has spoken to Colchester regarding their interest in signing him.

Luton rejected a bid for the Aussie last week believed to have been around £250K and Coyne stated that he did not want to leave the Hatters.

However, if he has spoken with them, reading between the lines, it would seem that Colchester may have improved their bid to a level which meets the administrators’ valuation of the player.

Blackwell’s comment was in the past tense, that Coyne HAD spoken to Colchester, so perhaps it has fallen through.

If Coyney doesn’t want to leave, perhaps he just found it in his heart to have ‘failed to agree personal terms’!

Time will tell.

Meanwhile, Blackwell also confirmed that Dean Morgan is still talking to Leeds United, who have apparently coveted his services for about 18 months based on one performance against them, when he took their defence apart.

Had that level of perfomance been a regular occurence, I doubt that he would be in his current state of limbo and perhaps Luton Town would still be in the Championship!
