Luton – Sit Back And Admire The Figures

Watching what I would call, an average FA Cup Final yesterday, brought back memories of the Hatters venture there, the previous Saturday.

As the game drew to a conclusion, with Manchester United rarely looking like getting an equaliser, apart from that last minute scramble, the customary announcement of the attendance was given, with it being declared as 83179.

Which got me thinking!

I was sure that was on, or around, the same figure that attended our epic encounter with Coventry City, but I was slightly wrong.

Returning to the statistics, from last Saturday, I found that our attendance was larger, 85711 to be precise, or doing the maths (or math in some parts of the world) 2532 more, a tremendous achievement by two, then, Championship clubs.

Now I realise travel from Manchester to London was difficult, what with the never-ending train strike situation, but it was no picnic last week either.

I wonder if this has happened before, has the EFL Championship Final attendance exceeded the FA Cup Final attendance before?

Perhaps someone could do the research and let us know!

FACup Final from several years back Cardiff v Pompey has the new Wembley highest attendance.

We had a fair few pockets of Luton in the sky blue losers end too. YouTube video by Toubian Talks Footy shows our glorious fans celebrating in their end behind the goal. Gormless Cov fans being called “Class” sort of embarrassed. Didn’t see any Cov in our end. There would have been slaps.
