I’d imagine it was a happy journey back from South Yorkshire to leafy Bedfordshire last night.

The 1-0 win, witnessed by circa 1800 travelling Luton Town supporters has elevated the Hatters chances of attaining one of those cherished play-off places and possibly an outside chance of an automatic promotion place.

Our fate, as they say, really is in our own hands as we enter the last ten games of the 2022/2023 EFL Championship season.

After another stoic performance that virtually nullified the threat posed by second placed Sheffield United, Rob Edwards had every right to be pleased with his lads.

Talking after the game, and as reported by Sky Sports, the gaffer had this to say:

“Really proud of the boys again. Thought the first-half performance was really good. Think the goal caused changes to their shape. We quietened the crowd. We pressed them. I thought we did that really well in the first half. I think the timing of the goal was really key.”

Quietening the home crowd, especially when they are as vociferous as those at Bramall Lane can be, was half the battle won, continuing, Rob added:

“We’re just working hard every day. We want to be in that mix at the end of the season. It’s a massive game on Wednesday. We’ve got a group here that are so committed who would run through a brick wall for each other. That’s what you need when you come to a tough place like Sheffield United.”

I can’t wait until Wednesday evening, a win against Bristol City will move us closer to that goal of a play-off place and, possibly, a place in the top tier of English football, the Premier League.

At Kenilworth Road, things really are on the up!

Lovely man our manager just wished he be a bit more aggressive with some of the touch line decisions. Still we are really lucky to have him.
