Luton – One Crazy Championship League Table

The dramatic 89th winner, scored by Cauley Woodrow, lifted the Hatters from 15th position to 12th in the Championship table.

Now 12th may seem to be a comfortable mid-table position in a normal season.

But, so far, the 2022/2023 season is shaping up to be far from normal.

With the season at its mid-point, Luton Town, in 12th position, are just 2 points adrift of a play-off place but also only 8 points above the relegation places.

The Hatters have two games in the space of four days, Queens Park Rangers (a) and Huddersfield Town (a), two good results could, quite easily, see us sitting in a play-off place, but two poor results could see us slipping towards a relegation spot.

Perhaps the tightness of the table is perfectly summed up in the post below, which was written immediately after the fine victory over Norwich City:

Now, I don’t, despite this article, tend to look at the table until midway through the season, but this season it makes for compulsive viewing, and I dare anyone to predict who will make the play-off places this season.

Anyone out there prepared to take up the challenge?

If so, just drop the names of the teams you believe will make the play-offs in the comment facility beneath this article.

I was astounded that 5th place down to 16th seperated by just 3pts and 6 of those team (half) have games in hand.
A bottom half finish or play offs decided by one game lol
