Luton – Once Again Thanks Mick

I’m not sure how many times Mick Harford has stepped into the breach in the past or how many times he will be asked to do so in the future.

But nothing fazes the big man and after it had been confirmed Nathan Jones had left the club, I’m sure he didn’t hesitate to step in when asked to do so.

Mick got a great reception when he took his seat on the bench, for the 1-1 draw with Rotherham United and must have been as shocked as the rest of us when Rotherham went 1-0 up in the first minute.

Thankfully, his side battled back to secure a point, in the last minute, with a goal from Luke Berry.

After the game, and speaking to the local BBC, Mick had nothing but praise for his players, remarking:

“The players gave the club everything. I’ve really enjoyed the last few days, being around them and preparing for the game. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind. They’re a brilliant squad who work tirelessly. It didn’t look like the manager had gone away, to be honest.”

I could be churlish and agree, it doesn’t seem to matter who is in charge, we still struggle to win at home!

Continuing, Mick added:

“The point was fully deserved in my opinion. I thought we dominated we created chances.

“Rotherham got an early goal and it gave them something to hang onto. They were a tough nut to crack, they have a way of playing and they are very hard to break down.

“Overall, I was pleased with a point, I’d rather have won obviously, but I thought the performance was brilliant.”

Considering the circumstances, it probably was and I’m sure you’ll all join me in thanking Mick for his assistance again, it just remains to be seen who is in charge the next time we take to the field of play, on Saturday 10th December.

Morning mh, Alan an I had an interesting little chat yesterday about foreign signings for the club. Without rehashing the old chestnut academy an our habit of getting in raw lower league diamonds. Apart from sluga who we happened across playing in a friendly against us. Is the clubs view on signing British players to narrow a view? There are bargains to be had abroad that don’t cost the earth. Coventry Blackburn to name 2 have brought players that didn’t break the bank. From memory valois was our last foreign signing. Do we need to open our eyes an broaden our horizon?

I think we do but does widening the scouting network incur financial expenditure we can’t afford or would, in time, it pay for itself? It could be the basis for an interesting article later this week.
