Is disappointed the correct word to use or should I be delighted that, with two games to go, we are very much in the shake up for a Championship play-off place?

After a couple of hours thought, I’ve edged towards disappointed.

Three points today would have almost sealed that play-off place, instead, although I will accept, we were scuppered by a raft of injuries, we just didn’t rise to the occasion.

Too many of those chosen just didn’t do themselves justice.

After scoring so early, Blackpool were there for the taking, but our game just disintegrated and, for some strange reason, we just couldn’t string more than two passes together.

Okay, I’ll accept the officials were not from the top drawer and I agree with the suggestions that we should have had a penalty when Snodgrass was clearly fouled, but, then again, I though we were lucky to escape conceding a second penalty when Naismith clearly caught a Blackpool player in the box.

But then we could contest we were deprived of a late winner when the assistant referee reckoned Adebayor had committed a foul in the build-up, a tough decision, but then life is tough.

Naturally, social media is awash with views on the game, with some harking on and on about the officials robbing us of a win:

Like I said earlier, Blackpool should also have had a second penalty, swings, and roundabouts and all that malarky!

Others, posting on social media, were honest enough to admit that the performance was not up to scratch:

It was, but with the amount of injures we’re having to cope with and the pressure on the team to get a result, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise, the one positive aspect being we didn’t lose.

But, one post I found did make me smile:

A decent side, or one that could play with freedom knowing their season is finished.

But, on a day of doom and gloom, I’ll finish with the social media posts by leaving you with this pleasant one:

Thanks, but if it is going to happen, we’ll have to do it the hard way and win either of our last two games, Fulham (a) and Reading (h).

It’s achievable but we need to improve dramatically on the fare served up against Blackpool.
