Yesterday, as another working week ended, the Hatters secured the services of two experienced players for the coming season.
As is traditional, when Luton make a new signing, we like to, via social media, gauge the supporters’ reaction to the deal.
Yesterday, we covered the signing of Cameron Jerome – luton-support-divided-on-striker-signing – and this morning, we feel duty bound to cover the signing of or new midfielder, Henri Lansbury.
Like Jerome, it appears there is mixed reaction as well when it comes to the procurement of Lansbury.
In one corner, we have a group of supporters that, on the back of the busy summer of deals, promotion could be on the cards:
Yesss hahaha we are going up!!!!!!

A little optimistic in my opinion, I cannot help feeling consolidation is still the key until the Power Court development is ready for the club to move into.
But there is also another group who posted comments warning us of Lansbury’s tendency to pick up injuries:
He's awful mate and got poppadom hamstrings 😂😂

The mans got hamstrings made of crisps, keep that treatment table fresh🤣

Clearly the fitness of Lansbury will need to be monitoring but, in balancing up matters, we should point out there are several posts congratulating Nathan Jones and his backroom team for pulling off this deal:
Experienced championship players you do just love to see it, really firming ourselves in the division and we still have eyes pointed up

Great signing! Welcome Henri!

Whoah…..I only popped out for an hour, sort stuff in the garden, and it's all happened. Seasoned pros to to add a bit of know-how too. Nice balance. COYH!

Played for a few years alongside Chrissy Cohen in Forest’s midfield. Class act. Another one with real class and obviously of the right mentality. Very impressive signing. Wow.

And as we always like to promote, tweets from supporters of clubs Lansbury has previously played for also paint a picture:
Good luck to Henri, hope you see the best of him.

You’ve got yourself a top player, injuries held him back at Villa but he is a great passer. He went to Bristol City on loan but they were in free fall and struggled to win the toss up.

As for me, I am always prepared to give new arrivals a chance and Lansbury, as well as Jerome, are no exceptions, with a young squad the experience they bring could be essential.
Injuries can strike anyone and, hopefully, we will, with some careful managing, keep Lansbury off the treatment table.
After finishing in 12th place last season, the newly vamped squad has the credentials to finish higher but talk of promotion is, I feel, a little premature.
