Luton – Look What You Could Have Won
Sat watching the TV last night, although the fare served up was average, I suddenly bucked up when the 3rd round draw for the Carabao Cup came on.
When it was completed, I could not help but think what might have been.
In fact, it was a little like the hit game show of the 1980’s Bullseye when the host, Jim Bowen, used to say to contestants who had failed to hit the jackpot:
“Look what you could have won?”
On reflection, if the Hatters had of managed to beat Stevenage in the 1st round, instead of making a right pig’s ear of it and failing to convert a single penalty of the three they took, we would have faced Wycombe, at Kenilworth Road, in the 2nd round.
It would have been a tie you would have expected to win and, subsequently, put us in the draw for the 3rd round last night.
If that had of been the case, we would all now be contemplating a trip to take on Manchester City.
I know it is all ifs and buts, but what a trip that could have been!
Or, perhaps based on our last performance, against Birmingham City, maybe not!
