Luton Linked With Signing A New Keeper

With James Shea still recovering from a long-term injury and with Matt Macey now on loan at Portsmouth, the Hatters find themselves in a pickle.

The only senior professionals, on the clubs’ books, registered as keepers are Ethan Horvath and Harry Isted.

If either were to get injured, before Shea is fit again, we’ll be in the same predicament as last year when the club had to bring in a keeper on an emergency loan.

On that basis, Football League World are reporting that Luton Town are trying to bring the second choice Barnsley keeper, Jack Walton, to Kenilworth Road.

Walton, 24-years-of-age, is behind Brad Collins, at Oakwell.

Since progressing through the ranks, Walton has made 62 appearances for Barnsley.

Now if the speculation is true, it leaves a few questions to be asked.

Firstly, whether it will be a loan move until the end of the season?

Secondly, is Walton seen as the new man between the sticks meaning Luton will not be pursuing the signing of Horvath?

Thirdly, would Walton be happy to come to Luton to play second fiddle to Horvath for the remainder of the season?

Fourthly, what would this mean for the future of Harry Isted?

Has anyone got any answers for the above?

The way I see it is horvath is number one at the moment with shea coming back sometime will either be happy at being number two ,that’s if we can sign horvath in the summer it’s all about his wages and the way he has been playing maybe a bigger club will come for him. Isted needs to be given a chance at sometime or get rid of him and bring someone new . Watched the game yesterday Leeds and Accrington and the boy savin looked good . Coyh

Disappointed that Isted wasn’t given a run out in the cup game against Grimsby. The lad must be so frustrated. He’s performed well when called upon.

I don’t know how much we are paying towards hoverth wages but we can’t afford his wages at over £20000 a week so we must find another keeper at wages we can afford!!!!
