Earlier this week, the Hatters were linked with the future acquisition of a defender.

The defender in question, as covered by the following article – luton-linked-with-young-defender – was Max Johnston, of Motherwell.

Today, according to the Scottish press source the Daily Record, the Hatters are said to be in the race for the 24-year-old Hibernian defender, Ryan Porteus.

Porteus, who has played for Scotland is out of contract this summer and the list of clubs said to be interested in signing him appears to be growing by the day with Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and Luton Town all gaining honourable mentions.

The defenders contract situation means that he can put pen-to-paper on a pre-contact agreement this January.

With the Hatters suffering, currently, unprecedented injury problems when it comes to centre backs, could Mick Harford and whoever replaces Nathan Jones as our boss, look to bring Porteus to the club?

I reckon it could be a good move and stiffen up our defence but what are your views on the above subject matter?
