Luton Linked With A Move For A Familiar Goalkeeper

Not one, but two pieces of transfer speculation have certainly livened up my weekend.

Yesterday, here on Vital Luton Town, we covered the transfer tittle tattle linking the Hatters with a move for the young Borussia Dortmund defender, Antonios Papadopoulos, a move many, including myself, believed wouldn’t happen due to the size of the anticipated transfer fee –

Today, a name familiar with Luton supporters, if the following source has its information correct – The 72 – could be set for a return to Kenilworth Road.

The player in question is none other than Matt Macey, who when he was on the books of Arsenal, made 11 league appearances, on loan, for Luton during the 2017 season.

Now 27-years-of-age, the six feet seen inch goalkeeper is on the books of Hibs.

With Luton Town searching for a keeper, with only Harry Isted currently available for selection next season, courtesy of James Shea being unavailable due to a long-term knee injury, Macey could be the answer to our problems.

However, it remains to be seen whether a deal can be agreed between the two clubs and if Macey is up for a move back to English football.

My view is that signing Macey would be an ideal move, even though the clamour for Isted to be given a chance net season is growing. His experience and height would allow him to dominate the six-yard box.

But, given a straight choice, who would you prefer?
