Luton – It’s A Large Slice Of Humble Pie For Me

In what was a game that was always going to be settled by the one goal, who would have thought it would have been our Danny who would score it?

Now I don’t know if this is a Luton Town swansong for Danny Hylton, as we look to gate crash the promotion party, via the play-offs, but Danny is certainly proving me, and a few others wrong.

I believed that having barely featured this season, Danny would be one of those who would leave in the January transfer window, thereby freeing up a space in the squad.

But how wrong was I and it just goes to show why I’m sat crunching keys as opposed to managing a club.

In midweek, as Luton won at Stoke, Danny got on the scoresheet for the first time in the Championship this season.

Coming off the substitutes bench, in the fifty-first minute yesterday, it was Danny’s smart finish from the edge of the box, in the sixty-seventh minute, that gave Luton Town the three vital points.

With two goals in two games, Hylton has emerged from the shadows to reaffirm his potential as a match winner in situations where we look to be struggling.

Quite how many goals he can plunder between now and the end of the season, remains to be seen.

But his re-emergence has certainly captured the thoughts and imagination, on social media, of the Hatters support:

Now I’m not sure about the potential accuracy of that last comment but, although I tipped Danny to be moved on in the last transfer window, I’m happy to eat a large slice of humble pie!

Morning mh, your not the only one on here to have said that. I an many others thought the same so we are all humbled. But Jerome an hylton are proving age is no barrier to being in the championship if you use your experience along with with lansbury an snodgrass we have a spine of experience to dig deep in adversity. An come through some thing that we have lacked. Not blaming nj. But all our best sides had youth an age in past glory. That has been missing for yrs.

These certainly are exciting times, roll on Wednesday, although it will take a monumental performance to cause a cup upset.

do you really think hylton and jerome are our future?. hylton scored great goal, but the defence were below par. the team are doing well, but don’t get carried away.enjoy this while you can ,but look to the future. do we really need snodgrass, we are safe from relegation, whats the point. we have great young players gagging for a game.give them a chance. campbell is such a truly fantastic player, hope the big teams don’t come knocking.burke is also showing good touches, works well with bree. don’t eat to much humble pie. I don’t think they are the future, especially if we sneak promotion, but it is always nice to be proved wrong in a good kind of way

Jimbo I think you have missed my point. In what I was saying all our past glory was because we were a mix of old heads an youth. An made the spine of the team. I agree with you that nj is to cautious in giving youth its head. An if we want promotion this season then these old boys are more likely to get it for us than throwing in youngsters.

chris, i don’t want to throw young players in, i want them to have earned the place, by there performance. i am enjoying the old boys doing there thing, and agree a mixture of old and young is the way. i just don’t get snodgrass signing. we are paying wages to good players, why do we need another one. hope nathan has got it right. i would like to be proved wrong, i usually am. still enjoying this forum, always enjoy hearing from new contributors.COYH.
