As far as footballing nights go, last night will go down in the history books as one of the most disappointing.
With only a team 60 places below us in the EFL hierarchy standing between the Hatters and a lucrative, televised tie away to Southampton and a chance to get one over our former boss, Nathan Jones, Luton completely fluffed the script.
In a spell of forty-five minutes a 3-goal blast, from Grimsby Town, blew away any chances of the Hatters progressing into the 5th round, Exiting the pitch trailing 3-0, common sense told you that the tie was well and truly over and, with the second half to come, social media was alive with disappointed Luton supporters realising a clash with Nathan Jones was now beyond our dreams:
Seriously? Since when was the cup really so unimportant? And with the prospect of facing NJ in the next round. Come on lads, where’s the passion?

Might as well get on the coach and go home lads

Indeed, at 3-0 down, I wonder how many of the travelling support might have done just that!
But, even in what has to go down as one of our darkest hours, the following post did, with its huge sarcastic tone, raise a smile:
Could not have gone better lads

And some even chose to be very optimistic:
We’re gonna win 4-3

Second half Morris hat-trick and Pelly seals it in extra time. No sweat. 😉 #COYH

Alas it was not to be, we were not even going to come close to producing a miraculous second half comeback, were we!
We can only hope we can bounce back, on Saturday, when we visit Coventry City for a crucial EFL Championship game.
