Things did not turn out as we hoped, up at Deepdale, on Saturday afternoon with the Hatters crashing to a 2-0 defeat.
Although we, ahead of the game, were convinced Luton were going to win this fixture and consolidate our 5th position in the Championship table, we may have neglected to recall two things:
1 – Preston North End, despite being beneath Luton, in the table, had not lost at home, all season, in the Championship.
and
2 – Luton have this annoying habit of not being able to win two league games on the bounce.
But, although we could have played better, we have to accept that, on the day, Preston were the better team and had more of an appetite for the game.
The defeat saw Luton drop from a lofty 5th position to a mid-table 10th in the Championship table.
Looking through the comments left on social media, the defeat was kind of accepted by the Luton support, almost as if we have been accustomed to the odd defeat when a win was hoped for.
But it is more of an air of resignation than any scathing criticism, as the comments below show:
Poor performance. It happens in a tough league. Hopefully we get Adebayo back and start Fred and we bring on the next two home games. COYHs

It happens every now and then. The championship is tough. We just need to not let it bring the lads down. Time to get behind them with 2 massive games this week. #COYH

Agreed. Let's get back at it and bang on it Tuesday. The 1,000 fans today deserve it.

On Tuesday we welcome Middlesbrough to Kenilworth Road, with the north-east club sitting one place below Luton in the table, can the Hatters get back to winning ways?
Luton Town v Middlesbrough?
Luton Town to Win!
Middlesbrough to Win!
A Draw!
